Understanding Concierge Medicine
What is concierge medicine?
Concierge medicine is a membership-based approach to primary care that emphasizes personalized attention, greater physician accessibility, and continuity of care. By caring for a smaller group of patients, a concierge physician can devote more time to understanding each person's health history, concerns, and long-term goals.
At ThriveMD, patients work directly with Dr. Jason Golub, a board-certified internal medicine physician with more than 20 years of medical experience.
How is concierge medicine different from traditional primary care?
Traditional primary care practices often manage large numbers of patients, which can limit appointment time and physician availability.
ThriveMD offers a more personalized experience, with time for meaningful conversations, direct communication with Dr. Golub, and a coordinated approach to your ongoing healthcare needs.
Can Dr. Golub serve as my primary care physician?
Yes. Dr. Golub is board-certified in Internal Medicine and provides ongoing adult primary care through ThriveMD. He can help manage preventive care, routine health concerns, chronic medical conditions, and coordination with specialists when needed.
Who is concierge medicine a good fit for?
Concierge medicine may be a good fit for adults who value a close relationship with their physician, want more time to discuss health concerns, or appreciate having a doctor who understands their medical history.
It can be especially appealing to people managing ongoing health conditions, coordinating care with multiple specialists, or seeking a more proactive approach to their health.
Membership & Pricing
How much does ThriveMD concierge medicine cost?
ThriveMD's annual concierge membership fee is $3,000.
The membership supports a more personalized physician relationship, including greater access to Dr. Golub and time for individualized care. Certain medical services may be billed separately to Medicare or eligible insurance plans.
We are happy to explain the membership structure and billing arrangements before you decide to join.
What does the annual membership fee cover?
The annual membership provides access to ThriveMD's personalized concierge care model, with an emphasis on direct physician communication, attentive appointments, ongoing medical guidance, and care coordination.
The membership fee is separate from charges for certain covered medical services, laboratory testing, imaging, specialist care, and other healthcare expenses. Our office can explain the details of membership and any applicable charges.
Is ThriveMD a direct primary care or concierge medicine practice?
ThriveMD follows a hybrid concierge medicine model. Patients pay an annual membership fee for enhanced access and personalized service, while eligible medical services may also be billed through Medicare or participating insurance plans.
This differs from practices that rely exclusively on membership fees for their clinical services.
Insurance & Medicare
Does ThriveMD accept Medicare?
ThriveMD works with Medicare for eligible covered medical services. The annual concierge membership fee is separate from Medicare-covered services and is not a substitute for health insurance.
Please contact our office to discuss how Medicare and ThriveMD membership work together.
Does ThriveMD accept private health insurance?
ThriveMD may bill eligible medical services to participating private PPO insurance plans. Coverage and billing depend on your specific plan and the services provided.
Our office can help you understand the practice's insurance arrangements before enrolling.
Do I still need health insurance if I join ThriveMD?
Yes. Concierge membership is not health insurance and does not replace Medicare or private health coverage.
Health insurance remains important for services such as hospital care, specialist visits, diagnostic testing, procedures, and other medical expenses that may fall outside the concierge membership.
Physician Access & Medical Care
Will I see Dr. Golub personally at my appointments?
ThriveMD is built around a direct relationship with Dr. Jason Golub. Rather than navigating a large group practice, patients receive personalized care from a physician who knows their history and follows their health over time.
Does Dr. Golub visit his patients in the hospital?
Yes. Dr. Golub has extensive experience in hospital medicine and hospital leadership in Boca Raton. He has privileges to see his patients at Boca Regional, Bethesda West and Bethesda East Hospitals.
When a ThriveMD patient is hospitalized, he makes personal hospital visits when permitted and helps coordinate care with the hospital's treating medical team. His familiarity with hospital medicine offers valuable continuity during what can be a stressful experience.
Can Dr. Golub help coordinate care with my specialists?
Yes. Coordinating care is an important part of ThriveMD's approach. Dr. Golub can review recommendations, help patients navigate medical decisions, and communicate with other treating physicians as appropriate.
The goal is to keep your healthcare connected rather than treating each medical concern in isolation.
Does ThriveMD provide preventive care and chronic disease management?
Yes. As a board-certified internal medicine physician, Dr. Golub provides adult primary care that includes preventive health guidance, routine medical evaluations, and ongoing management of chronic conditions.
His approach emphasizes understanding the full picture of your health and developing care plans tailored to your individual needs.
